Mini Pocket Bikes
They were also easy to haul around, because they were about the size of a small bicycle. Ever since then, pocket bikes and mini motorcycles have been making headway all over the world as fantastic, fun ways to pass the time.
Gas Powered Pocket Bikes
Most pocket bikes operate with a small gas powered 4 stroke motor. You will probably recognize these motors as very similar to the ones that power a lawnmower, except in a more powerful, compact form. Some of these pocket bikes, though, come with small two stroke motors. You can tell these by their sound and the fact that improperly tuned two strokes often let un-burnt fuel out in the exhaust. The result is a cloud of blue smoke and a terrible noise!
Most pocket bikes are not legal on the road, but are instead designed for and legal to use on grassy, unpaved private land. There are a number of reasons as to why a pocket bike is not legal on the highway for one, the seats are not high enough off of the ground to conform with most state laws two, there is usually a lack of the necessary safety gear (mirrors, lights, blinkers, etc.) and third, they are usually not outfitted with a proper muffler, meaning that you can get a ticket for noise pollution!
Fast Mini Pocket Bikes
Pocket bikes might seem small, but they are actually quite fast! Electric pocket bikes can do 10-15 miles per hour or even more, while most gasoline powered bikes can do at least 25 miles per hour! A totally tricked out pocket bike for use in a professional circuit will top out at 80 miles per hour! Professional pocket bike riders always wear full safety outfits when riding their pocket bikes, because injuries can occur on these vehicles even on speeds of only 10 miles per hour, or even less (depending on the terrain).
Mainly, pocket bikes are for enjoyment. They are a lot of fun because they offer the same thrill as a motorcycle but with only the fraction of the cost, and they are a lot safer for younger riders than a full sized motorcycle. If you think that a mini motorcycle would suit you, then you might want to look up pocket bikes and see about getting one for yourself!
